R407C is a popular refrigerant used in a variety of air conditioning and refrigeration applications. Its main uses include:
Air Conditioning: R407C is widely used in residential and commercial air conditioning systems as a replacement for R22, which is being phased out due to its ozone-depleting potential. It offers similar thermodynamic properties to R22 but with a significantly lower environmental impact.
Heat Pumps: R407C is used in heat pump systems for both heating and cooling. It is favored in environments where efficient energy use and lower environmental impact are important, such as residential heating and cooling applications.
Chillers: R407C is used in water and air-cooled chillers, which are commonly found in commercial buildings, large HVAC systems, and industrial refrigeration applications.
Refrigeration: Although it is mainly used in air conditioning, R407C can also be found in certain refrigeration systems, particularly those designed for medium-temperature applications, like food storage and display.
